Massage during pregnancy can be a special time for you to relax and connect with your baby, relieving some of the discomforts that may be experienced during pregnancy.

There are multiple research studies that show the benefits of pregnancy massage. According to a study by the University Of Miami School Of Medicine suggests that pregnancy massage can reduce anxiety, decrease symptoms of depression, relieve muscle aches and joint pains and improve labour outcomes. Massage techniques can also address many common discomforts associated with the skeletal and circulatory changes brought on by hormone shifts during pregnancy.

In another study of pregnancy massage, researchers found that pregnancy massage decreased levels of cortisol and noradrenaline (stress hormones)and increased levels of the “feel-good” hormones serotonin and dopamine. These hormones not only make you feel relaxed, calm, balanced and recharged, but the same effect is also passed on to your growing baby. Evidence points strongly to pregnancy massage health benefits when incorporated into regular prenatal care.

Other potential benefits of pregnancy massage:

  • Reduced back pain
  • Reduced joint pain
  • Improved circulation
  • Reduced edema (swelling)
  • Reduced muscle tension and headaches
  • Reduced stress and anxiety
  • Improved oxygenation of soft tissue and muscles
  • Better sleep.

Facial massage

Having a regular facial massage is great for aging or tired skin and is becoming increasingly more popular as a natural alternative to Botox and other invasive cosmetic procedures. Alongside your regular skincare routine, regular facial massage is another way to reduce the signs of aging making the face glow and taking signs of fatigue and dullness away. As we age, our skin loses the ability to replenish lost cells, which results in sagging skin and wrinkles. Facial massage stimulates the muscles and the lymphatic system, re-oxygenates and detoxifies the facial tissue and releases muscular tension. Massage tones and lifts the facial muscles, giving them a natural plumpness and leaving your complexion more youthful.
